Call for Art Competition

Theme: Promoting Peaceful Coexistence, Conflict Resolution, and Cultural Diversity as a Means of Dialogue

Overview:
Redeem the Generation (RtG) is pleased to announce a call for young amateur visual artists to participate in an individual art competition. This initiative aims to foster peace, mutual understanding, and cultural diversity through creative expression. The competition encourages youth to use visual art as a platform to engage in dialogue and promote peaceful coexistence within their communities.

Eligibility Criteria:

To participate in the competition, contestants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be between 18 and 35 years of age.
  • Reside in Addis Ababa.
  • Have a genuine interest in visual art and a desire to promote messages of peace, conflict resolution, and cultural diversity.
  • Commit to active participation in all phases of the competition, including orientation, artwork submission, and related activities.
  • Agree to comply with the competition’s rules and guidelines as defined by the organizers.
  • Submit original artwork free of discriminatory content (religion, ethnicity, gender, disability, or culture).
  • Ensure submitted artworks do not violate copyright or intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • Sign a consent form allowing submission and public display of their artwork.
  • Previous RtG art competition participants will be given priority due to their prior experience.
  • Female participants are highly encouraged to apply and take on leadership roles in the process.

Art Medium & Guidelines:

  • Artworks must be created using watercolors, acrylic paints, or collage techniques only.
  • Art should be clear, culturally sensitive, locally relevant, and easily understandable by the audience.
  • A total of 10 contestants will be selected for this competition.
  • Submissions must reflect creativity and innovation, and align with the competition's core themes.

Support & Resources:

  • Redeem the Generation will conduct an orientation session for selected participants.
  • All necessary working materials and artistic tools will be provided to contestants.

Awards & Recognition:

  • The top three winning artists will receive in-kind awards to support their future artistic development.
  • All participants will gain exposure and recognition through the public showcasing of their work.

RTG is a youth-focused Ethiopian charity, legally established in 2001 and recently re-licensed (Reg. No. 0826) by the Ethiopia Charity and Society Agency. It operates nationwide without political, religious, racial, or linguistic bias.
